A short detail about ASHTEC

AMG Skilled Hands Training Center, Inc. (AMG SHTCI) had its humble beginning in a dilapidated warehouse on Commonwealth Avenue, with one (1) trainer and five (5) male students where they held classes under a tree. In 1997, God blessed the training center with a one hectare land in Barangay Makapilapil, San Ildefonso, Bulacan through the generous support of Woord en Daad, AMG Phillipines’ partner in the Netherlands.

At the turn of the new millennium in 2001, AMG SHTCI started to expand in response to new challenges.

A strategy to enlist skills instructors for its own program resulted in the recruitment of twelve (12) instructors from the auto mechanic and welding courses. Three departments were also established – Admin, Training, and Livelihood Departments. In 2002, computer courses were introduced as part of the Information technology (IT) Program. The Job and Business Center (JBC) was established in 2005. JBC is an additional department in the Skilled Hands System that serves to provide placements for graduates in On-the-job training and employment. In 2005, AMG SHTCI revised its curriculum to make it more responsive to the job market. The four courses were registered with TESDA, namely: Automotive Technology, Computer Technology, Electronics Technology, and Information Technology. In 2006, AMG SHTCI improved its training curriculum to a 2-year course. On the 23rd of June 2009, AMG Skilled Hands Training Center, Inc. Changed its name to AMG Skilled Hands Technological College, Inc. ASHTEC) with SO CN200262161. At present, the school offers 2-year courses in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Electronics and Communication Technology (ECT), Welding Technology (WT), and a Diploma Course in Entrepreneurship (DCE).

ASHTEC has developed partnerships over the years with different NGOs such as Center for Community Transformation (CCT), Christian Mission Service Philippines (CMSP), and Compassion International and local and multi-national companies (MNCs) such as EEI Corporation and Lexmark in Cebu for placement in On-the-Job Training (OJT) and employment of graduates. In 2007, ASHTEC inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with EEI Corporation in the training of unemployed adults for deployment to their local and overseas projects. To date, there are more than 1,000 trainees who graduated from the partnership training and who are now working in the Middle East.

After more than twenty (20) years, ASHTEC has established itself as a prime educational institution, committed to the transformation of people for a lifetime.

All glory and praises belong to God who made it possible for ASHTEC to surmount all challenges and difficulties throughout the years.
